In the Season 2 episode entitled, "Weapon X, Lies, and DVDs," The Brood finally make their official animated debut as adapted from the original design by illustrator Dave Cockrum for the X-Men comics back in the early 1980s. For specific reasons, the original X-Men animated series had deviated from comics canon on this bit of X-history.

With this creature design assignment falling on my art table, I endeavored to adapt key elements from the comics while also acknowledging the influence of the 1979 classic sci-fi horror film A L I E N. Additionally, I had the luxury of drawing from that film's 1986 sequel with regard to this version of the Brood Queen. However, despite going through various tweaks, including a weirder, more detailed revision, they decided to drop the design from the final cut of the episode.

*At this time, I am not cleared to post the approved design for the Broodling Workers and Warriors which does appear in the final cut.
