X-MEN '97: THE SILVER SAMURAI

Marvel Animation Character Design, X-MEN '97, The Silver Samurai.
Media: Adobe Photoshop

With the release of the art-book devoted to Season One of the series featuring this image, I have permission to share it online as part of my portfolio.

The only things I remembered about this character:

• the Marvel Team-Up # 57 issue, featuring Spider-Man and Black Widow, with a stunning cover by artist Dave Cockrum. The Silver Samurai stood over a slashed up Black Widow, about to deliver a killing strike as Spider-Man was leaping to the rescue.
• and the live-action adapted version appearing in the 2013 movie THE WOLVERINE.
The challenge was to cull from available reference, and adapt the character for X-MEN '97 in the art style established by Lead Character Designer Amelia Vidal.

***The X-MEN '97 art-book is one of the best of its kind, a must-have for every art lover, animation geek, and superhero fan. I highly recommend getting a copy for yourself.
