Marvel Animation Character Design, HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H., Firelord.
In the second season episode, "Planet Hulk, Part 2," Firelord, herald of Galactus, makes an appearance.
I had fun designing this guy. I wanted to treat his fiery crown as a mohawk. And, just as the edge-lines of his costume all echo the flame motif, I wanted the arc of his pointed ears to adhere to this as well. His eyebrows are flame, and hot light radiates from inside his nostrils, his mouth, and behind his eyes, a being composed of a powerful cosmic energy. I didn't want him to blink at all, since there shouldn't be any eye moisture, nor any need of it. Finally, I wanted a red self-color line rather than black, so the figure would more readily register as consistently hot.
Although my responsibilities center on character design, not props, I decided to also design Firelord's trademark fire-staff, adding a new spin. This is seen in another illustration.
