TAZ IN SPACE!

WB Marketing Art, LOONEY TUNES: TAZ IN SPACE, Tasmanian Devil.

Okay, several years ago, the marketing folks at Warner Bros wanted to exploit the popularity of superhero movies and Star Wars by remolding their Looney Tunes brand for product. They selected one LT character to explore superheroes (Bugs Bunny), and another for sci-fi/fantasy (Tasmanian Devil). I was asked to submit concepts. My only misgivings involved the tone. I felt it imprudent to abandon the wacky and irreverent humor which is the hallmark of Looney Tunes. Anyway, we gave it a go. While I couldn't completely bring myself to make Bugs into a serious superhero (and so that artwork was altered without my knowledge), I dutifully took Taz where no Taz had gone before, a galaxy far, far away. The TAZ IN SPACE program failed to launch, I believe. But here I present some of the art, including a rough marker sketch, and a few pencil drawings (two of which I playfully finished up in Photoshop recently).
