Upon my return to Disney/Marvel and X-MEN '97, I was given the very challenging assignment of rendering the variety of characters with a view towards marketing application. This entailed illustrating them in signature action poses, keeping them on-model. One of the more exciting moments was getting the chance to illustrate Psylocke. Even though I knew little about this character (Psylocke's history is actually very interesting), I fell in love with the Kwannon version as drawn by Jim Lee back in the 1990s. Here, I did my best to adhere to the series' art style as established by Lead Character Designer Amelia Vidal.
