This is another piece that was graced by the painting skills and incredible color sense of artist Richard Ory. Most comic book covers are an interpretation by the artist of the story contained within, its significant crux or key highlights, depicted under the supervision of the editor. Here I was attempting to depict Odo, the central character in this issue's story, facing the dilemma of solving a murder mystery on the Deep Space Nine station. The mystery is a puzzle, hence the jigsaw puzzle design element in the background. And the suspects are the exploded puzzle pieces swirling around him, including members of the station crew, and, of course, the ever-troublesome Quark. Under-lighting on Odo serves to augment the tensely uncertain tone.
