YOUNG JUSTICE: HARM and SECRET!

In the Season One episode, "Secrets," it was my assignment to create a family "photo" for use in a brief scene. The photo image needed to portray the sibling duo in happier times, when Harm and Secret were still simply Billy and Greta Hayes. I thought it was obvious to go the hard-rocker route with Billy's design, preserving an edgy look for the man who would later become the psychopath. I depicted Greta as the doting little sister, embracing her big brother. But, you'll notice that I was careful not to have Billy return the embrace. Not quite. Although it's established that Billy definitely loved his sister, I chose to use his casual detachment as a subtle hint at the betrayal, and horrific tragedy that was to come. Of course, these are details that may be lost on the viewer. But sometimes in art there can be comprehension on a subconscious level, and a private satisfaction for the artist.
