YOUNG JUSTICE: BELUGA BOY!

In the episode, "DownTime," Beluga Boy makes his appearance. Okay, he doesn't really have an official name, and he's never appeared anywhere else in the DC Universe. But designing incidental characters in order to populate a scene can become tedious. To avoid boredom, I imbue as many characters as I can with some uniqueness. I liked creating this pudgy little fellow, and I decided to name him "Beluga Boy." My mind wandered to "Marine Boy," a Japanese anime I watched as a kid that featured an amazing boy hero, his mermaid friend, and their white dolphin.
Beluga Boy appears briefly as one of the students practicing magic at Mera's underwater "Hogwarts" school of witchcraft and fisheries. The idea is that Atlantis is populated by various races of people, ranging from the humanoid (like Kaldur'ahm, and Aquaman), to merfolk. Beluga Boy is part cetacean, not fish, so he finds air in reservoirs situated throughout Atlantis.
