DC Comics STAR TREK #14

This cover was another time my mischief got me into trouble with Admiral Greenberger. As I've mentioned elsewhere, doing crowd scenes is a tedious task, and so I tend to amuse myself by drawing in familiar characters or messages as jokes, among other things. Bob managed to catch where I had hidden the words, "Lost In Space" within the texture pattern of Arrit's hair (the boy seen in the floating hologram). So, that mischief was expunged. My other tribute to Bill Mumy was allowed, as Will Robinson can be found standing among the gathered crowd in the background.
Oh, you'll also find E.T. the Extraterrestrial hiding there! Another piece of geek Trek trivia involves a certain plant that is visible here, that should NOT be present. Can you identify this, and tell why it shouldn't be there?
