CARTOON SAMWISE GAMGEE (LOTR)

Gift Project, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin).

Years ago, I created a cartoon illustration to include with the gift I gave to the son of a friend, a special edition Blu ray copy of the Peter Jackson movie adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel. I had too much fun with the illustration, and it got out of hand with all the characters I added in. Originally, it was only supposed to be a rough sketch of an orc, or something. This image of Sam (Sean Astin) is only part of the larger piece.

With a fierce loyalty to install him alongside the greatest friend/sidekicks in all of literature, Samwise The Brave easily rivals the likes of Batman's Robin, The Lone Ranger's Tonto, Robin Hood's Little John, and Sherlock Holmes' Dr. Watson. In many ways, he even eclipses them all with his unflinching self-sacrifice.
